It's Finally Spring! Tiers and Coral

THE OUTFIT:
jacket - Bebe
tiered dress - Elle via Kohl's
coral shrug - ??
gold wedges - by Steve Madden

Ahh... it's almost Friday and I couldn't be happier about it! It has been a busy week, but a good one! Today is the first day of the year that the temperature hit 60*. It's so exciting but also really pathetic! It's basically April and we've been freezing out rear ends off here in Oregon! I can't wait for it to keep getting warmer! I am all about dresses and skirts in the warm months. This dress is really fun because I am pretty sure I can remix it quite a bit. There are so many ways to style a dress like this, don't you think?? Today I chose this Springy coral shrug, and I think it turned out pretty cute. I am not really a pink type of person. I know coral isn't pink but it's close enough. Pink is just a bit too foofy {is that a word??} for my style! Also, I have to say, I really, really wanted to wear my Dany's again today! I kinda love those shoes!! {the ones in yesterday's post}. I have decided that I need them in more colors. Ok, I need to go enjoy this sunny afternoon! I hope everyone had a great Thursday and don't forget to tweet or Facebook me your workouts! Yeah!

Oooh La-La-Lace!

First off, all I have to say is THANK YOU!! Thank you for all the love shown {via comment, Facebook & Twitter} on Fit Tuesday yesterday! BOOYAH, my readers are the BOMB! Honestly, I am just giddy over the fact that you all would read my blog, comment, and most of all actually be inspired by silly ole me!
Y'all rock my world!!

Pretty skirt, no? I wish I would have shown the waistline. You see the bottom hem? How it has that fine, classic lace going all around? Well, the waistline is that way too. It's gorgeous, but I haven't really figured out a way to style it so you can see that without me looking like a hoochie mama. The fabric doesn't really work for tucking a top in, and I don't think a cropped top would be a good look. In the words of Scott Disick, it could go from first class to coach quick!

Have a wonderful Wednesday, beautiful people!!

Fit Tuesday ~ Ah, PUSH it!

It's Fit Tuesday!!

I want to talk about challenging yourself today. If you're new to my blog, or haven't read my "About Me" page, you may not know that I have been battling some major health issues for close to two years now. I am not going to get into it on this post, but basically chronic illness has really crippled my ability to live out my passion for fitness over the past couple of years. {my ability to live it out the way I would prefer to. I am still committed to fitness in every way I am safely able to} Recently I have been feeling stronger and been able to rest more, which has helped me gain the energy and strength to get back into workout routines. Although I make an effort to at least stretch every day, my "routine" is still somewhat sporadic as far as lengthy workouts. Sunday I got pretty wild with it. I did some stairs by my building that go up higher than my 8 story condominiums. They are steep and high. Well I did quite a few sets of those and some easy jogging in the hills in between to keep my muscles from tightening too much. Of course, today I was sore, but not too bad.
My stairs... from top...
to bottom...
this is the bottom, there's a landing in between that you see on the photo above

Well, the plan for Monday was a short, easy jog. Wrong. I got going, and my friends, my pace picked up, and my body was sore, but energetic. I felt healthy and strong. I picked up my pace some more, and kept going. Forty minutes later, I was on the two mile incline back up to my place and finally getting tired. I did my cool-down and I was back home. With my last bit of energy I decided to kick it into high gear, so I took to the 8+ story steps for just one set. I finished strong! I can't even put into words how good it felt to be able to really push my body again. It has been a long time. I want to clarify though. When I say I pushed myself, I did it in a healthy way. You never want to push yourself to injury when you're in real pain. But let's face it, even healthy exercise hurts some. You have to ice and stretch regularly after you push it. But you can push it and it will feel good in the end. Even the aches feel good. Because when you are giving yourself the proper fuel {food}, fluids and rest and care that it needs and deserves, nothing feels better than to kick it into high gear!!

How often do you push yourself to get stronger, faster, or more fit? Do you stop as soon as you get tired or do you push through? I want to encourage you to try it. Next time you're working out or hey, maybe you don't work out... well, start now. Start today and push yourself. If you are healthy and you are fueled you can push your body to do more than you think. Sure, there are some aches and pains in there {not talking about injury pain where a certain spot is throbbing- that means stop} but as long as you listen to your body, you will not regret pushing through them.

"Nothing will work unless you do."

- John Wooden

So, let's talk...
How often do you push yourself? How do you think you can do this more often?

3 signs today is Monday...

gotta have the lace

THE OUTFIT:
sweater - Express
lace cami - The Limited
pants - Express
booties - by Jessica Simpson
coat - Semantiks via Nordstrom Rack

1. Mascara and lip gloss only. That would be fine except...

2. My hair is in a ball on the top of my head because I went to bed with it wet last night and chose to lay in bed rather than do it this morning!

3. I chose my outfit in about 3.528 seconds. No time for creativity. If it weren't for this fab jacket I may not be able to consider myself a fashion blogger after today.

Um, yeah, I'll stop there. Let's just say it's a good thing this blog is fashion and fitness, because there's not much in the fashion department today. Except the jacket. Yes, I heart this $325.00 jacket that I got for under $50.00 on sale at Nordstrom Rack. BOOYAH! Well, I'm off to go for an easy run now that I've bored you to death!!

Come back tomorrow for Fit Tuesday! It's going to be good! I have so many things I want to write about for tomorrow that I haven't even narrowed it down yet. But I will. Wow, it's just a really good thing I made it Fit Tuesday instead of Monday. Mondays aren't my lucky day...

Daytime Glam Eyes!

Hey beauties!! After this post, a lovely reader asked if I would do a tutorial on my eye make up. Why, of course!! It may have taken me a couple weeks, but I'll always do what I can to meet your requests. These are the colors I use {typically} when I do more of a smoky look. I think it's a little on the glam side but still toned down enough for daytime.

Let's get down to business.

Products:
  • Cover Girl & Olay Primer
  • MAC Fluidline- Blacktrack
  • MAC shadow- Tempting
  • MAC shadow- Beauty Marked
  • Smashbox shadow- Champagne
  • Two shadow brushes
  • MAC Technakohl Eye Pencil- Graphblack
  • Haute & Naughty Mascara
  • Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush- Coffee Cake
  • MAC Studio Fix foundation- NW35
  • MAC Lusterglass- Decorative

I'll take you step-by-step with photos!

1. Apply small amount of primer on both eye lids up to eyebrows*.
fresh, clean face-primed eyes
* I don't use primer on my entire face, only because my skin is too oily.

2. use your shadow brush to spread tempting or your lighter color over entire eyelid

3. Using a smaller brush, add champagne (your bright gold) to your brow bone. I also like to dust some in the corners of my eyes for some extra brightening.

3. Using your shadow brush with the tip, blend beauty marked (your dark color) to the outer area of your eyelid. I sweep some outside the edges a bit.

4. Using your eye pencil, line under your eye. for day keep it thin, night I smudge it a bit. I would say this look is more on the "day" smoky side.

5. Using your fine, pointed brush (not shown- I lost mine so I got creative with the sponge thing) paint a small amount- a little goes a long way- of the MAC fluidline over the top lid. I "wing" some out a bit past the edges. Do this line slowly, in small strokes. Start thin and get a little thicker as you go out. Have some Q-tips ready to wet with eye make-up remover, and "erase" mistakes with. I try to be extra precise with this step!

6. Use a coat of mascara on the bottom lashes, and two or so coats on the top. Be careful to comb through any clumps!! {with the Haute & Naughty, I use the smaller brush for bottom lashes and the thicker for the top}

above and below: left eye has mascara and liquidline- right does not

7. Now that your eyes are done, add your foundation, blush and gloss and get 'em, girl!!

all done!

8. NOW, SMILE!!!

here's a photo from the post where I loved the way I did smiliar eye make-up an someone asked me to post "how-to."

Here, the eyes are more "evening." I am going to post the evening "how-to" soon. Probably next Sunday. Deal?

What do you think? Was this even helpful at all?? This is my first "how-to" post! It was difficult to do with still photos. I would love any helpful feedback you have!

#BragBaby!

THE OUTFIT:
top - Nordstrom Rack
scarf - Nordstrom
capris - ON
platforms - Dany by Jessica Simpson

So, let's start by talking about this outfit. I am really not sure how I feel about it yet. I am trying to get creative and really wear what's in my closet. Do you ever find yourself only sticking to your top favs and feel like you could be missing out on more? I sure do! And honestly, ya'll fashionistas inspire me!! So this top came with a thin little fabric the same color to wrap through the loops. It just looks cheap and not cute with that. So I added this feminine floral scarf in the mix. Since I have to add some edge when I go this girlie, I decided on the Dany's. I heart these shoes! I don't care that it's still freezing cold in Oregon; I need some Spring in my wardrobe! I guess I'll grab my winter coat and head out to work. HA!

Anyway, what's this "Brag Baby," talk about?? Well, I want to hear about your workouts!! Whether it's a hardcore, crazy sweat or stretching or a walk- it counts! I just started something on Twitter {and will likely do it on Facebook, too when I get enough fans to make my page official *hint, hint*} where you tweet me what you're doing to be active that day and I will RT to everyone. This is fun for a few reasons 1. it's easy and quick 2. who doesn't like to brag about their workout? 3. you just tell me and I brag for you!! 4. we all motivate each other. Um, does it get better than that? I think not! Also, I hope to keep spreading #bragbaby inspiration, so that others see it when they're laying on the couch watching television and they get on the floor and do some abs and then feel the need to #bragbaby!! It's a movement, you know? Everyone inspiring each other! I love it already! So, you in? Follow me on Twitter @fiercefabfit and #bragbaby!!! Yea!

Have a fabfit, Friday!

FBFF ~ Feminism & Fashion

Katy over at ModlyChic, is the founder of Fashion/Beauty Friend Friday {FBFF}. Each week, Katy puts some thought provoking questions together and emails them to us. On Friday we all post our responses. It's s a fun, diverse and creative blog community! If you're interested in being a part of this fabulous group, head over to Katy's FBFF page for details!

fem·i·nism [fem-uh-niz-uhm]
–noun1.the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men.2.sometimes initial capital letter an organized movement for the attainment of such rights for women.3. feminine  character

1. Do you think there is an incompatibility between feminism and a love for fashion?
Honestly, I think it depends on how you look at it. If you are looking at fashion from a perspective that treats women as objects being used to look a certain way in order to sell product, then yes - there is an incompatibility. However, if you love the art of fashion and the creativity of expressing oneself through it, there doesn't have to be. You can love fashion and value women.

2. There is more to each of us than a love for fashion, how do you incorporate every aspect of yourself into your blog?
My blog is not exclusively focused on topics related to fashion and beauty. It is also largely focused on fitness and women's health. I have weekly posts on taking care of and loving your body. At times I post on matters of character as well. On Fierce, Fabulous & Fit, I keep it as real as possible!

3. With the fashion industry still being a male-dominated profession, how do you think it would differ if women played a larger role?
If women played a larger role in the fashion industry, advertising would certainly be impacted, in my opinion. I do think there would still be standards of beauty there, but I think it would look a whole lot different than it does now.

4. How is your self-image and the way you carry yourself informed by your beliefs?
My self-image and mannerisms are absolutely influenced by my relationship with God. I believe He created each one of us exactly the way we are for a unique purpose. It's important for me to love and respect my body since it's the only one I get.

5. Do you think clothing/makeup/hair helps communicate the truth about yourself or are those things superfluous add-ons?
Clothing, makeup and hair absolutely help communicate the truth about myself!! When I am sure to put myself together, {i.e. well-groomed, dressed, fashionable and somewhat modest}, I am communicating that I love and respect myself as well as those around me. This question makes me think of when the illnesses I am battling had me very depressed and I wouldn't really get myself ready in the morning or put effort into my looks. I think then I was communicating that I didn't care or had given up on my body. I never want to be in that place again! One of the main reasons for my blog is to keep me on top of that.

What do you think would change in the fashion industry if women were in a more dominating role?

How do you communicate the truth about yourself through your appearance?

Stylish Blogger Award!!

Hey dolls!!

Tara over at Haute Lunch has so sweetly passed off the Stylish Blogger Award to me! Thanks, Tara! When you get a chance go check out her blog!!

To accept this award I am supposed to share 7 random things about myself with all of you and then pass this on to 3 other Stylish Bloggers! So fun, right??

My 7 Randoms:

1. I am still too shy to take my outfit photos in public.

2. I kinda like love dark chocolate and eat at least a square almost daily.

3. I really don't have tons of clothes. I recently got rid of lots, and don't have the cash flow for major shopping right now.

4. I'm still completely and utterly smitten and flattered when one of you lovelies comments on my blog! Seriously, each one makes my day. And don't even get me started on how excited I get when I get a reader email! *swoon*

5. I so badly want to have babies. Really. And I can't wait to someday wear a bikini with a big, prego belly. Is that totally weird and TMI?!

6. I loathe the whole "lol" thing. Have you ever noticed I don't use it, even with tweeting?

7. I secretly wish I was more quick witted. People with dry, quick humor are my heroes. I'm only funny 'cause I'm a clumsy nerd!

Ok, I'm passing off the Stylish tellmesevenrandomthingsiprobablydontknowaboutyou Award to:

Thanks again, Tara!!
