So, I've been thinking lately about highlighting other style bloggers who share my passion for fitness. About a month ago I spotted Katy over at Think Pretty Thoughts through Everybody, Everywear. I was stoked to find someone else who loves fitness and caring for your body as well as some fierce, feminine style. This woman is gor-geous!! Anyway, she became a daily read for me and after awhile I decided to shoot her an email to see if she would be interested in being featured here to talk about her love for fitness. She said "yes!" 1. When/how did you discover a passion for fitness?
Katy: About a year ago, I was feeling really “uncomfortable” with my body and the few extra pounds I had put on just by being lazy. I decided to use unemployment to my advantage and hit the gym. I ended up falling in love with fitness after a few weeks and began really learning about how to workout for results. A year later, here I am, blogging about a passion I never knew I had, but even better, never knew I could do. Exercise is something anyone can be good at, all it takes is a little learning and patience!
2. What made you decide to have fitness become an element of your blog?
Katy: I couldn’t help but mention fitness, it was so much a part of my everyday life after a while. People began commenting, asking how I “got my legs” and I eventually decided to spill the beans and share with the world I’m a self-proclaimed gym rat. I’m proud of it too, since not too long ago I was a blog-reading couch potato!
3. How much time a week do you dedicate to working out and/or making sure you eat well?
Katy: I exercise at least 6 days a week. I also prepare my meals, grocery shop, and go the extra mile to make sure I’m eating good clean foods that support my exercise habits. I’ve always been into healthy eating, so that was nothing new to me! However, I have a major sweet tooth. I’m talking serious sweet tooth!
4. What is the biggest challenge for you, when trying to stay in shape? The easiest part?
Katy: Biggest challenge is definitely resisting sweets! I have a very consistent diet and exercise plan, but dang, when I see a cookie…it’s just bad. It’s definitely okay to reward myself, but if I didn’t practice self control…. desserts would be my every meal!
5. In your life, how are fitness and fashion related to one another?
Katy: I think it’s about taking care of yourself! When I’m active and putting good things in, I want to reflect that and take care of the outside too. Fitness and Fashion are just another way I live my life to the fullest by nurturing the life God has given me!
6. What is your best piece of advice for someone who wants to become more physically fit?
Katy: YOU CAN DO IT. It’s really about sticking it out those first couple weeks, and then you’re in the habit. Heck, you might even enjoy it by that point! I wrote about how I stay motivated here, and those are my tricks to dragging my butt in the gym. Hopefully they can help you too!
