Katy, over at ModlyChic, is the founder of FBFF, and emails us questions every week that we post our answers to on Fridays. This week's subject is:

COLOR

1. What color dominates your closet?
Honestly, black and shades of gray are for sure the top color {if we aren't counting the hues of blue in my ridiculous denim collection- no shame there!}. Coming in next would be red and many shades of purple!

2. If money were not an issue, how would this affect color emphasis in your wardrobe?
Well, I am learning that when I find a basic with reasonable quality and price, that I love, I should buy it in many colors. An example of this is the extended length basic tanks & camis at f21. I absolutely depend on them for layering! I especially prefer with leggings or skinny pants, since I like my lil booty to have some coverage. ;) So if money weren't an issue I would extend this to more pricey items as well, such as great pairs of heels and blouses. I'm a creature of habit, so I enjoy having many options of the same peice. Weird??

3. What is your mantra about mixing color?
Mix it up, hunnay! While this is my mantra about mixing color, I would say it's not something I regularly practice. It is more of a goal at this point.

I am not afraid of color at all! As a woman of color, I feel I have the advantage that most bright and bold colors look great with my skin tone! Honestly, I feel I can pull off most of them, I just need to be more intentional about it since I still tend to migrate towards black... I'm working on it!

4. For you, how do you incorporate color into your outfits?
If I'm pulling pieces to put a look together and it's looking dark {as in too much black/gray}, I will lay it out or try it on and look for some ways to add some. I often do this by changing out a layer. When I wear a low cut dress or tunic, I will add a cami underneath that adds a pop of color-maybe red, purple, green. This goes for tops with cardigans as well. I would say this is something I ebb and flow on consistency of adding color. Another way I do this would be today's outfit. Normally since this dress is pretty short I would have worn black or gray or a neutral green legging or opaque tight with it. However, thanks to We Love Colors I was able to expand on this by adding the teal option. I must admit it was out of my comfort zone, but definitely in a good way! I am wearing my tights from them today, so tomorrow I will give a little review, but so far I love!

5. Which blogger(s) would you say do a good job of incorporating color into their wardrobe?
Colette over at Statements In Fashion. She has a great sense of style and adding color into her looks. I love it!

  1. Ya, they really are great! they are comfortable and even with my darker complexion, they were opaque, which not all colored tights are! You should try them out!

I totally agree! Collette is a master color mixer! She has great, bold style!

Love those tights, girl! I think what I love so much about the We Love Colors tights (from what I have seen on all the FBFFers) is how opaque they are. There is no peek skin coming thorugh those things. LOL! the color is nice and saturated. FABULOUS!
